MAKE YOUR MANI LAST

August is full of summer fun—boating, beaches, bonfires, and more. But with so much on the go, and so many great outdoor activities, your nails, and your manicure, can take a beating. So, how do you keep your nails, and nail art, in tip-top shape while you’re enjoying your fun in the sun? Check out our top tips to keep your nails looking their best.
- Shape your nails
- When you’re in a rush, it can be hard to find the time to paint your nails, never mind sitting down to give yourself a proper manicure. But shaping your nails can make a big difference in the life of your manicure. Trimming and filing your nails eliminates any rough edges and potential snags that may chip your polish.
- Use a basecoat
- We all know the benefits of using a clear top coat, but not everyone takes the time to use a quality basecoat when they sit down to paint their nails. Much like using a moisturizer on your face before putting on makeup, or a heat protectant spray before styling your hair, a base coat on your nails helps to create a barrier between your natural nail and the polish. This can help prevent any staining that may occur, especially when using dark polishes. Base coats also help create an even surface for your polish to be applied to, making the colour apply smoothly.

- Seal the edges
- Painting your nails is pretty straightforward, right? Just paint the nail. But did you know there is a proper way to paint that can help minimize chips and improve the look and lasting power of your manicure? When you paint your nails, it’s important to run the brush along the free edge of the nail, creating a seal, and reducing the risk of chips, flakes, and shrinkage.

- Throw some glitter on it
- Sometimes, you just need to add a little glitter. Applying a glitter polish overtop of your slightly chipped manicure can not only minimize the appearance of any flaws or dings to your nail polish but it’s a quick way to update your nail look on the go.
